The book delves deeply into a thirty year history of Alan’s schizophrenia describing in detail his symptoms and experiences.
This includes graphic representations of the visual hallucinations that he has experienced and also shows other symptoms including self harming as well as auditory hallucinations.
As a generalisation this book can give the everyday reader a better understanding of schizophrenia and mental illness, whilst explaining the importance and use of anti-psychotic medication within modern psychiatry. This book is proof, through this case study that anti-psychotic medication works, can prevent hospitalisation and allow the mentally ill to lead relatively normal lives. Although there is no known cure for schizophrenia it can be controlled through the use of medication and monitoring.
